Maddocks Sports can undertake construction of all types of cricket nets. With our experience, we can suggest best options for possible problem areas.

Such as:

  • Positioning & orientation of proposed nets; – will the setting sun be a problem?
  • Run-up area; – will the bowlers be running in from the playing field? Will they damage the area with their boots? How big should the concrete run-up area be?
  • Could other park users be in danger from cricket balls?
  • Drainage from the concrete slab(s).
  • Should we cover the whole slab with synthetic grass?
  • Do we need rubber drop mats to stop balls hitting the nets and poles?

The company has built many of these facilities over the years (please see photos of some of our jobs).
We can plan & project-manage;

  • Excavation & site level
  • Concrete pour
  • Cyclone wire construction
  • Installation of synthetic grass
  • Internal soft netting (if preferred)

We use experienced sub-contractors in all cases, and we always look for the best prices for quality workmanship.

Synthetic grass only

In some cases, councils or clubs will prefer to manage these jobs themselves, and simply use Maddocks Sports for the grass installation part of the job.

With many of these jobs, the customer prefers to cover the entire concrete surface, to prevent damage to cricket balls. Where possible, we offer a cheaper ‘in-fill’ grass (often in a contrasting green colour) down the sides of the pitches, to keep costs down.

In other cases, we just lay 1.83m (6 foot) wide strips of grass in the batting half of each net.

Other options

  • We offer either standard ‘Shield’ cricket pitches, or the ‘All-seasons’ surface. Some of our cricket net jobs have a combination of the two.
  • Run-ups can be done in Shield grass (short-pile), or we can install a rubber shock-pad base with the grass on top. This gives the bowlers a more cushioned run-up area.

The photos above are a sample of past jobs, at different stages of completion. Note that some nets have required standard cricket grass, some are All-seasons surfaces, while others have a combination of the two.
